Voices in the Silence

Song Tekst

I haven’t slept for nights, my mind keeps pounding on and on
And every time I close my eyes, I feel something creeping closer, almost drawn
There’s a tremble in the walls, something that doesn’t come from me
And every breath feels like falling, like the ground is slipping out beneath my feet

My wife sits with me in the dark, sees every crack across my face
She tells me I must keep on fighting, but I feel my own voice losing space
She holds me like I might shatter, like I could vanish in the night
And I no longer know where I end… and where those voices start to bite

Give me just one night of rest, one night without a fight
One night without the shadows, one night without the weight of time tonight
But they whisper harder, pressing deeper underneath my skin
And I feel my last bit of strength slowly fading, slowly caving in

She holds my hand, but I feel myself drifting out into the night
The voices grow louder, and I don’t know who’ll be waiting when I lose this fight
The harmonica cries softly, as if it’s catching my final breath
And I whisper: “How long… before one quiet voice silences all the rest.”

Voices in the Silence  is a whisper‑dark blues piece about a man trapped in the exhaustion of endless sleepless nights. The silence around him has become a dangerous place, filled with tremors and shadows that seem to move on their own. Every breath feels unstable, as if the ground beneath him is slowly giving way. He senses something drawing closer in the dark — something he knows isn’t real, yet it feels frighteningly present.

Beside him sits his wife, acting as a quiet guardian in the night. She sees the cracks in his face, the fear in his eyes, the way his voice weakens each time he tries to speak. She holds him as if he might break, trying to anchor him to the world, but he feels himself slipping. The line between his own thoughts and the whispers he hears begins to blur, and he no longer knows where he ends and the voices begin.

In the chorus he pleads for just one night of rest — one night without shadows, without the weight of time pressing on him. But the whispers grow stronger, pushing deeper beneath his skin, draining the last of his strength. The harmonica echoes this descent with long, low breaths that feel like the soundtrack of a mind unraveling.

The outro leaves him suspended in a cold, empty space. His wife holds his hand, but he feels himself drifting further away. The voices grow louder, and he no longer knows who will be waiting for him when he finally breaks. The harmonica catches his fading breath, and in a final whisper he wonders how long it will take before one quiet voice silences his own completely.

It is a minimal, intimate blues portrait of fear, exhaustion, and the fragile line between holding on and letting go — carried by whisper vocals, sparse piano, and the lonely cry of a harmonica.
